How did you discover Whaller?
In July 2020, we received EU funding for the EUt+ initiative. As we began collaborating with our seven European partners on research and education, we looked for a data-secure platform. We trialled several options, and Whaller stood out for its data protection and tailored service. We appreciated the direct dialogue with the team and the platform’s adaptability to our needs.
Why choose Whaller?
First, the customisation and attentive client support. Whaller helped us structure multiple working groups, create spheres, and set permissions. Key features include integrated video conferencing, document boxes for collaborative work, and shared calendars—essential when we’re on the move.
How do you use Whaller?
Each sphere corresponds to a work package. For example, WP7.1 focuses on communication. We gather participants—around a hundred per month—on the platform, sharing schedules, logistics, housing info, and social activities. The “Breaking News” section keeps our audience informed, gradually building engagement.
How did adoption go?
We ensured essential information—logistics, timetables—was only available via Whaller, encouraging regular use. Later, we expanded to create an EUt+ intranet using spheres and implemented SSO, allowing users to log in with their university credentials.
Which features are most useful?
Our Alliance heavily uses the video sphere for instant meetings—e.g. connecting Troyes and Spain. The file Box supports co-authoring for EU-funded project documents. Whaller 365 tools enable comments and real-time edits, which is highly valued.
What improvements have you seen?
Search functionality has already improved—finding tagged files, messages, and users is faster. The expanding repository makes this crucial.
How does Whaller align with your initiative?
We implemented whitelabel branding to reinforce EUt+ identity. The login screen now features EUt+ visuals and campus selection—creating a strong sense of community.
What’s next for the platform?
We aim to enhance mobile engagement—push notifications, on-the-go info access. We also wish for better group chat features to support small teams during travel. These updates would deepen Whaller’s integration into our daily work across EUt+.
